Relationship between clinical presenting patterns of acute myocarditis and oedema and late enhancement extension

چکیده
Background acute myocarditis (AM) clinical onset can span from subclinical disease to acute heart failure (AHF) ventricular fibrillation (VF) or sudden cardiac death in young adults. Myocarditis can underly the aetiology of other cardiomyopathies (CM) such as dilated CM arrhythmogenic left or right ventricle CM. Aim of the study was to evaluate the relationship between myocardial oedema and late enhancement (LGE) extension and clinical presenting patterns of acute myocarditis by means of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR).

Patients with exercise-associated ventricular ectopy present evidence of myocarditis
BACKGROUND The origin and clinical relevance of exercise-induced premature ventricular beats (PVBs) in patients without coronary heart disease or cardiomyopathies is unknown. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance enables us to non-invasively assess myocardial scarring and oedema. The purpose of our study was to discover any evidence of myocardial anomalies in patients with exercise-induced ventricu...
متن کاملRelationship of troponin T to cardiac MRI criteria for acute myocarditis
Background Cardiac MR criteria for acute myocarditis (“Lake Louise Criteria”) include scarring as defined by high-signalintensity areas in late gadolinium enhancement (LGE), and inflammatory markers as defined by an increased early contrast uptake (early gadolinium enhancement, EGE) and edema (increased signal intensity in T2 signal weighted images). Troponin is a widely used clinical marker fo...
متن کاملAcute myocarditis presenting as acute coronary syndrome: role of early cardiac magnetic resonance in its diagnosis.
BACKGROUND In patients presenting with acute cardiac symptoms, abnormal ECG and raised troponin, myocarditis may be suspected after normal angiography. AIMS To analyse cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) findings in patients with a provisional diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in whom acute myocarditis was subsequently considered more likely. METHODS AND RESULTS 79 patients referred f...

OBJECTIVES Ultrasmall superparamagnetic particles of iron oxide (USPIO)-enhanced MRI can detect tissue-resident macrophage activity and identify cellular inflammation within tissues. We hypothesised that USPIO-enhanced MRI would provide a non-invasive imaging technique that would improve the diagnosis and management of patients with acute myocarditis. METHODS Ten volunteers and 14 patients wi...
متن کاملEpstein-Barr Virus Myocarditis Presenting as Acute Abdomen in a Child: a Case Report
Introduction Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection can present with a variety of manifestation. Case Report Here we present a case of a 7 year- old immunocompetent girl who came with acute abdominal pain , had echocardiographic evidence of myocardial dysfunction and finally was diagnosed as a case of serologically proven acute EBV infection. Conclusion...
